Epoxy is not just for garages anymore
Many Gilbert homes are built on concrete slabs, and more homeowners are discovering that a professionally installed resin floor is a beautiful, practical alternative to tile, carpet and laminate. A residential epoxy floor is seamless, so there are no grout lines to scrub and no seams for water, dust or pet hair to collect in. It is tough enough for kids, dogs and furniture, cool underfoot during Arizona summers, and available in a range of looks from clean modern solids to deep, pearlescent metallics.
We install residential systems in casitas, guest suites, laundry and mud rooms, home gyms, game rooms, home offices, basements, workshops, sunrooms and open living spaces. When a home has polished or bare concrete that has become dull, stained or cracked, a coating gives it a second life without the demolition and dust of tearing out the slab.
Where residential epoxy works best
Casitas and guest suites
Casitas are a hallmark of Gilbert living, and many are built with simple sealed concrete or builder-grade tile. A metallic or solid-color epoxy floor gives a casita a finished, upscale feel that guests notice, and it is easy to keep clean between visits.
Laundry rooms and mud rooms
These rooms see water, detergent, muddy shoes and heavy appliances. A seamless coating with a light texture is easy to mop, resists staining and handles the occasional washer leak far better than vinyl or carpet.
Home gyms
Garage and spare-room gyms benefit from a tough, slip-aware floor that can take dropped weights when paired with rubber mats in lifting zones. We can add anti-slip texture and choose a flake blend that hides chalk and sweat marks.
Game rooms, media rooms and studios
A metallic floor turns a game room or creative studio into a showpiece. The reflective surface bounces light around the room, and the flowing pattern means no two floors are ever alike.
Patios and outdoor living
For covered patios, walkways and pool surrounds, we use outdoor-rated systems with UV-stable topcoats and texture for bare feet. Visit our patio and concrete coatings page for details.
Finishes for residential floors
Every home is different, so we offer several looks and help you choose one that fits your design and how the room is used.
- Solid color: clean, modern and minimal. Soft grays, warm whites and muted blues pair well with contemporary Gilbert interiors.
- Decorative flake: textured and forgiving, ideal for laundry rooms, gyms and spaces that see heavy use. See our decorative flake flooring page.
- Metallic epoxy: fluid, three-dimensional and dramatic, with pearl, silver, blue or warm tones. See our metallic epoxy flooring page.
- Clear sealed concrete: for homeowners who love the look of their existing concrete, a clear high-performance coating protects it and deepens its natural color.
- Sheen options: high gloss for maximum depth, or satin and matte finishes for a softer look that shows fewer scratches and footprints.
Why homeowners choose resin over tile and laminate
Tile looks good but grout stains and cracks, and individual tiles can loosen when slabs move. Laminate and luxury vinyl can swell or lift if water gets under them, which is a real concern in laundry rooms and areas near doors that see monsoon rain. Carpet traps dust, which is a constant battle in the desert. A resin floor bonds directly to the concrete, so there is nothing underneath to rot, swell or trap moisture. It is one continuous surface from wall to wall.
Resin floors are also cool underfoot, which many Arizona homeowners appreciate. Concrete stays close to ground temperature, and a coating preserves that natural cooling effect while making the surface smooth and comfortable. For homes with radiant or slab cooling ideas in mind, it is a good fit as well.
How we install residential floors
Interior work requires extra care because you live in the space. Our residential process is designed to be clean, contained and predictable.
Consultation and samples
We start with a visit to look at the slab, measure the room and talk about how it will be used. We bring physical samples so you can see colors against your walls, cabinets and lighting. If you are working with a designer, we are happy to coordinate with them.
Containment and protection
We seal off doorways with plastic barriers, cover cabinets, baseboards and fixtures, and protect adjacent flooring. Our grinders connect to HEPA-filtered vacuums to keep dust out of the rest of the house.
Removing existing flooring
If tile, vinyl, carpet or adhesive is in place, we can remove it and grind the slab clean. Thin-set mortar and old glues must come off completely so the new coating bonds properly.
Grinding, repair and leveling
Diamond grinding opens the concrete surface. Cracks are repaired, low spots are filled and, where needed, we apply a self-leveling underlayment to create a flat surface before coating. This step matters even more indoors, where light shows every ripple.
Coating and finishing
We apply primer, body coat and decorative layers, then finish with a durable topcoat in the sheen you chose. Low-odor and fast-cure options are available for occupied homes, and we discuss ventilation and timing with you in advance.
Practical considerations for homes
Moisture: interior slabs can carry moisture vapor from the ground, especially in older homes or those without a vapor barrier. We test before quoting and use moisture-mitigating primers when needed.
Transitions: we plan clean transitions where the new floor meets carpet, tile or wood, and can recommend thresholds or metal edge strips.
Furniture and pets: felt pads on furniture legs prevent scratches. Dog nails will not damage a properly cured coating, though high-gloss finishes show fine marks more easily than satin or flake.
Timing: most single-room projects take two to three days, including cure time. Larger open-plan spaces may take longer. Furniture can usually return after 48 to 72 hours.
Caring for a residential epoxy floor
Use a microfiber dust mop for everyday cleaning and damp-mop with warm water and a pH-neutral cleaner. Avoid vinegar, citrus or bleach-based cleaners, which can dull the finish over time. Place doormats at exterior entries to catch grit, which is the main cause of fine scratches. A residential floor that is cared for this way keeps its look for years with very little effort.
Planning a whole-home or multi-room project
Some homeowners start with one room and fall in love with the result, then decide to extend the floor through hallways, the kitchen or the entire main level. Planning a larger project from the start allows us to schedule work in logical phases, keep transitions seamless between rooms and maintain consistent color and sheen throughout. We can work room by room so part of the home stays usable, or complete the whole area in one push while you are away. We will discuss the trade-offs with you and build a schedule around your family's needs.
When a project includes both the garage and interior rooms, we often recommend different systems for each space. A flake floor with a heat-resistant topcoat suits the garage, while a smoother metallic or solid-color system with a satin topcoat may be better inside. Coordinating colors between the two keeps the home feeling cohesive.
Residential epoxy and resale value
Updated floors are one of the first things buyers notice. A clean, modern resin floor in a casita, game room or garage signals that a home has been cared for, and it photographs well for listings. While every market is different, many Gilbert homeowners find that coated garages and finished spaces help their homes stand out against similar listings in the same neighborhood. If you are preparing to sell, we can recommend neutral finishes with broad appeal.
